Beneath our feat
I In our integrated unit this term we have been about fascinating natural disasters. We each picked a natural disaster we interested in and researched it. I chose to research tsunamis. After we research our natural disaster we wrote an information report and made dioramas. My diorama is of a tsunami midway of hitting a city.
Tsunamis are hydrological disasters meaning they have to do with water. Usually tsunamis are caused by an earthquake under the sea. Tsunamis occur in the ring of fire 80% of the time because tectonic plates moving more often making tsunamis more common.
What I enjoyed most was making my diorama because I liked being creative and doing something different. I also liked making my diorama because you could do whatever you wanted with it. It was also fully done by myself and I am proud of the way I did it.
This is my information report:
Tsunamis
Researched and written by Paige, 4T, 2018
Tsunamis are huge waves that rush to the shore. They are caused by 2 tectonic plates moving against each other. This disaster is a hydrological disasters meaning they have to do with water.
After tsunamis there are lots flooding and floating debris. There is debris because when they hit there is enough strength to destroy everything in its path. So the materials from building get dragged away in the water. This disaster is measured by height and strength. After a tsunami hits, the effect of flooding can last for 2 or more hours.

Causes
Tsunamis are commonly caused by earthquakes under the sea floor. This disaster more commonly occur in the Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean is where most tsunamis have occurred. This is because tectonic plates in this area are making earthquakes more common. Tsunamis always occur on the coast.

Effects
Tsunamis bring the effect of flood, destruction and even death. They go through houses and leave people without the simple resources they need to survive. People are left without food, water and medication from their houses being destroyed. People are left to live in the dirty water. Animals habitats are also destroyed. Depending on which country the tsunami hit in can take years and lots of money to restore the landscape.
